INTERNSHIPS

Through ongoing managerial support and feedback, as well as other professional development activities, our internship program strives to provide the next generation of arts and non-profit leaders the skills and knowledge necessary to advance the most pressing issues facing their chosen fields today.

Interns receive:

  • Monthly honorarium
  • Free use of studio space, for both dance and non-dance activities, subject to approval
  • Free access to classes held at Gibney Dance Center
  • Intensive training as well as specific duties and projects
  • Opportunities to participate in professional development and educational
  • activities and events led by resident and outside experts
  • Access to free tickets for performances by Gibney Dance artists and companies as
  • well as other partner organizations, based on seasonal availability
  • Their own work station and email account

All interns are integrated staff of Gibney Dance, representing the organization both during normal working hours as well as at the organization’s various programs and events. Gibney Dance offers a friendly and fun, yet focused environment where individuals come to work and build their careers. As such, we look for individuals who demonstrate:

  • maturity and professionalism
  • strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team in often ambiguous conditions
  • willingness to take ownership of their responsibilities and projects
  • adherence to core Gibney Dance values, including respect, self-expression, collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship

We are currently seeking interns in the following areas:

  • Communications – assist with marketing and promotional activities, including content and media development for all internal & external communications
  • Community Action – assist with preparing and scheduling workshops and related activities for our work with domestic violence survivors
  • Development – assist with fundraising correspondence and related cultivation activities across Individual and Institutional Giving, and Special Events
  • Executive – assist with high-level strategic and/or organizational wide special projects and initiatives
  • Operations – assist with studio rentals and day-to-day facilities management, as well as with planning and execution of Center programs and events
