First held in January 2013, The Institute for Community Action Training (ICAT) teaches our Community Action methodology to impassioned individuals who are interested in using the arts as a vehicle for social change. ICAT consists of a weekend-long intensive that provides participants with time-tested tools for building new outreach programs. Registration is open to dance and social service professionals.

The Institute for Community Action Training offers dancers and social service professionals:
- A working understanding of domestic violence as well as other prevalent social issues
- Space for reflection: What issues are important to you and what do you have to offer?
- Techniques for effectively working with target populations
- Guidance in implementing our four-part program model
- Workshop aids and resources (sample exercises, session structures, and Take Care Cards™)
- Technical assistance in program development and partnership cultivation
Most importantly, ICAT participants gain the tools and skills to initiate, build, and sustain arts outreach projects within their own communities.
