boo-koo is Gibney Dance’s space grant program for emerging artists. It provides choreographers with 40 hours of studio allocation plus technical assistance and mentoring. In exchange, the choreographers conceive of and implement a community-based project, thereby coupling dance with service. Awardees have worked with students at the Hetrick-Martin Institute, offered classes to benefit City Harvest, and created a barter board for the community at Gibney Dance Center.
