DiP

DiP, short for Dance in Process, is a residency program for mid-career artists. Each year, DiP offers exclusive and continuous access to studio space and an adjacent production office to four New York City-based dance artists, each at a critical stage in their careers. Awardees also receive staff support, a menu of resources, and generous stipends. What truly sets this residency apart is that artists and their dancers do not have to travel out of town or cover costly per diem expenses in order to delve into the creative process.

Members of the selection panel are chosen through a vote by all DiP applicants; panelists then make a selection with the guidance of a neutral, non-voting facilitator. One or two artists each year are chosen by a presenter partner. In the 2012-13 season, the Presenter Partner was Danspace Project; in the 2013-14 season, the Presenter Partners are Danspace Project and The Chocolate Factory.

The 2012-2013 Resident Artists were:

  • DECADANCE
  • Melinda Ring
  • Anna Sperber
  • David Thomson
